And yet, there’s more.

Brick-and-mortar retail shops. Outdoor garden centers. Arts nonprofits.
Animal nonprofits. Pretty much any kind of nonprofit. We brand ’em all.

DIGS Garden Center

The staff at DIGS Garden Center—a new venture by the Indianapolis landscape company Heath Outdoor—was just a few months away from their grand-opening when they reached out to Matinee for visual branding support. We worked collaboratively with their in-house team to develop a bold and approachable brand identity that aligns perfectly with DIGS’ neighborly, down-to-earth ethos.

Friends of Indy Animals

When they arrived at our doorstep, this scrappy nonprofit was in need of an updated brand that would help advance its efforts to support Indianapolis Animal Care Services‘ critical work and, eventually,  help fund a desperately needed new facility. We helped with a new name, updated brand identity, refreshed website, and assets for a capital campaign. Then, in 2023, the good news arrived: A new shelter is on the way for Indy’s most vulnerable animals.

Spark on the Circle

We’re big fans of Big Car. We’ve followed it from its early days as a rag-tag grassroots group in Fountain Square to its current status as one of Indy’s premiere arts organization—especially when it comes to placemaking. And SPARK on the Circle is one of Big Car’s most impressive placemaking initiatives to date. We pitched in branding and messaging, and couldn’t be more pleased that SPARK is coming back to the Circle in 2024.

Bloombox Music Festival

Our relationship with Harrison Center for the Arts stretches back more years than we care to enumerate in this-here space. Suffice it to say that we’re old partners; Amy spent more than a decade designing posters to promote its gallery shows. Then, in 2023, we renewed our relationship, helping them rename and rebrand the Independent Music + Arts Festival as Bloombox. The updated name and logo emphasizes the primary role of live music at the event while injecting it with a Technicolor blast of spring-themed joy.

Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Company

To say we have a soft spot for Calvin Fletcher’s Coffee Company would be to vastly understate the matter. We’ve been fans for more than a decade, and we believe that its presence in Fletcher Place somehow makes the sun shine a bit brighter and the neighbors smile a bit wider. So we didn’t hesitate when owner Jeff Litsey asked for help designing their coffee packaging. This was a team effort—Jeff is an artist himself—and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results of our collaboration.

Ash & Elm Cider Co.

It’s hard to believe that way back when we led branding and packaging design for Ash & Elm Cider Co., it was just a fledgling craft beverage startup. These days, it’s one of the largest alcoholic cider producers in the Midwest, and it’s eyeing more growth in the near future. We certainly enjoyed our partnership in their early years, and we’re especially fond of the branding work we did for their specialty ciders, pictured at the bottom.

Garfield Park Farmers Market

Back in 2015, Ashley Brooks and Julie Woody founded the Garfield Park Farmers Market, bringing a bounty of locally grown fruits and vegetables to an area of Indy that had long been deprived of a place to shop for fresh, healthy food. A couple of years in, they tapped us to develop a brand for the Market, along with some advertising to spread the word. Our goal: to capture the joyful, vibrant, neighborly vibe that makes GPFM one of the best outdoor markets in Central Indiana.
